Shannon’s own mental health and inspiring healing journey set her firmly on the
path of counselling, where she can be in service to help those who struggle to look
at, understand and overcome eating disorders, addiction and the difficulties and
dynamics in life that create deep wounds that undermine healthy self-esteem. She
knows firsthand how impactful it can be to have a counsellor who is authentic,
heart-centered, compassionate, and supportive. This was her personal inspiration
to become a counsellor specializing in eating disorders and their co-occurring
disorders–depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, perfectionism, or
substance abuse.
Shannon knows that the key to solid recovery is support; going it alone often fails
and results in relapse. She understands the unique difficulties and complexities of
living with an eating disorder, the impacts on the people you love, and the stigma
and isolation this difficult and complex mental illness creates. In her work, she is
client-centred and strives to create a therapeutic experience where clients will feel
seen, heard, understood, and supported.
Shannon’s work focuses on:
– self-esteem
– eating disorders
– grief and loss
– shame
– anxiety
– depression
– body-image
– perfectionism
When not helping others, you will usually find Shannon in the garden or out in
nature with her family and dog Cooper, or on a trail or at the barn with her much-
loved equine companion, Bobo.
